一、provide的用法是什么

1、provide還可表示法律、規(guī)章、協(xié)議等的“規(guī)定”,往往作為條件提出使之能按照某人的意愿或某種規(guī)則履行,后常接that引起的從句,

從句中可以用shall, should, must, may, ought to等,用should, must, ought to時,語氣較重,用may時,語氣較輕,用shall時,指當(dāng)前,語氣一般,也可用虛擬語氣。

2、provide作及物動詞時，指“規(guī)定”，后可接that從句。值得注意的是從句中要用shall/should，不用will/would，偶爾可用虛擬現(xiàn)在式。

The contract provides that only the best materials shall be used.

合同規(guī)定說只允許用最好的材料。

3、provided可作連接詞，原屬于provide的過去分詞， provided ...或provided that ...指“規(guī)定或以……作條件”。當(dāng)用于正式英語中時，provided .../provided that ...可等同于“if...”。

I will go provided (that) you will go with me.

兩句意思一樣，但注意兩者不能隨便替換。

句中的if不可以替換成provided。不過通常來說，用provided的場合，用if都是可以的。
