答：作為形容詞，二者都用作定語。else一般用來修飾不定代詞(something, nothing, somebody, anyone等)或疑問代詞(who, what等), 且必須放在這些詞之后。other用來修飾名詞，位于名詞之前。另外，else還可用作副詞，放在疑問副詞(when ,where)后。

2. 問：句③中的other前面為什么加了定冠詞the?

答：the other表示某一范圍內(nèi)除去一部分后其余的部分，如one ... the other ...句型中，the other表示的是兩者 中的另外一個(gè)。而other表示除去一部分后，別的或另外的，但不是剩余的部分。
